Not as Cathartic as She’d Hoped
I wrote the following paragraph in response to a prompt.

I periodically meet ethereally with a group of writers. We like to share writing techniques, offer each other support and critique, and just generally "geek out" about writing. One of the exercises we will do is to write for 10-20 minutes on a topic suggested by one of our members. Often the topics will take the form of a "prompt," a sentence or phrase to either start the writing with or to include in some way. I wrote the following paragraph in response to the prompt "Writing down her thoughts about their relationship wasn't as cathartic as she'd hoped." See if you can figure out who the subject is!

Writing down her thoughts about their relationship wasn't as cathartic as she'd hoped. Mostly it just read like a list of complaints. She wasn’t available enough. She only showed up when she wanted something. She never communicated clearly, just provided vague hints and partial sentences. Her gifts, when she deigned to give them, were real head-scratchers. She never knew where she stood in the relationship. She provided service, devotion, worship even, and for what? To have her calls ignored until it was time for her to save the world yet again? She didn’t ask to be Isis’ Chosen One. But she did the job. A little appreciation wouldn’t be too much to ask of a goddess, would it?
